CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY DRIVES OUR PRACTICE TO CREATE THE MOST EFFICIENT AND COMFORTABLE TREATMENT

At The Orthodontist & Co., we offer the latest technology, backed by laboratory & clinical research to make sure our patients receive the best results in the most efficient time.

self ligating braces

Damon is the leading brand of passive-self-ligating braces system, where it uses a gate mechanism to hold the wire .  This virtually eliminates the need for colored rubber bands and allows for a low friction and consistent force applied by the wire to the bracket over time. The result is a more efficient tooth movement with less discomfort, and can result in reduced visits and treatment time. At The Orthodontist & Co, we only use the latest braces technology for our Long Island City, Upper East Side, and New York City patients.

clear braces

Clear braces is a great, more aesthetic option for our Long Island City and Upper East Side patients who are concerned about their appearance during treatment. The Damon Clear braces is made of ceramic material which allows the natural tooth color to be seen through  without  giving up any of the advantages of using the passive self-ligating system. Damon Clear offers advantages over traditional braces because it is tieless and provides fast tooth movement with clinically proven spectacular results.

lingual braces

Lingual braces are often considered the most aesthetic orthodontic treatment option. Lingual braces are fixed on the back side of your teeth. It is virtually impossible to tell that someone is in treatment when they smile. The lingual brackets are custom built for your teeth ensuring the best possible fit with a low profile to maximize comfort. Most patients that are a candidate for braces are also a good candidate for lingual braces.

TMJ Disorder Management

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD) is a condition of the jaw joints which creates jaw and  bite alignment problems including osteoarthritis . The mandibular bone [lower jaw] is designed to slide and rotate to provide for range of motion when chewing and speaking. TMJD alters this range of motion and can result to pain, jaw locking, clicking and popping sounds.

Dr. Juson is highly trained to help fix and treat this condition. He has developed his own protocol in managing TMJD symptoms as they arise during and after orthodontic treatment.  Please contact us for more details.

airway conscious practice

The Orthodontist & Co is not only focused on making beautiful teeth but we are also an airway-conscious practice. With the help of the iCAT FLX 3D machine in our Long Island City location, we are able to evaluate the presence of constricted airway which causes obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)* . Studies show that children under the age of 12 with OSA may experience impairment to their cognitive development and oftentimes misdiagnosed with ADHD.  Some  exhibit bed-wetting, mood swings and mouth breathing and grow to have poor quality of life .  We care and that’s why we take pride in providing this complimentary service to our patients  below the age of 12  in our LIC location.

Invisalign®

Dr. Juson is an Invisalign specialist. While many Invisalign cases are ‘approved’ after being sent directly from the company, this often doesn’t result in the best outcome for the patient. An Invisalign case is reverse engineered. Meaning, that through Invisalign’s software, your teeth are moved into their ideal position and then the aligners are manufactured from that ideal solution. It is extremely important that an Orthodontist takes the time to make sure the case is set up appropriately. Dr. Juson builds each Invisalign case by improving on what was sent from Invisalign using their software, adding his experience and clinical expertise.

Early Orthodontic Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontics (AAO) recommends that your child's first orthodontic visit occurs between the ages of 7 and 8 years old. In the vast majority of cases this is just a check to make sure that the child's permanent teeth and jaw are developing beneficially. In some cases, a problem with the child's growth and development can lead to interceptive treatment. Interceptive treatment can be in the child's best interest as it intercepts the developing problem early enough to steer the child's development in order to reduce the severity of the problem later in life. Interceptive treatment can often reduce future crowding and the need for potential surgery in their teen years.

our appliances

Expanders

Palatal expanders create more space in a child's mouth by gradually widening the upper jaw. Although this may sound scary, it actually uses the bodies natural growth plates. That is because the upper jaw develops as two separate halves that don't fully fuse together until sometime after puberty. Before that happens, the two bones can gently be separated and stabilized over a period of several months.

our appliances

habit breakers

Habit appliances are used as a deterrent and a reminder to break habits like a tongue thrust or finger sucking. They can also be used as trainers for tongue placement during rest and swallowing. These appliances are created to help a child break the habit by training the tongue to be in the correct position or make it slightly uncomfortable while the child is performing the habit.

Carrier Motion Class II Appliance

The Carriere® Motion™ Appliance is used for Class II patients, to correct Class II at the beginning of the treatment, before braces or aligners are placed. Carrier Motion Class III Appliance

Class 3 malocclusion, called prognathism or underbite, occurs when the lower jaw protrudes or juts forward, causing the lower jaw and teeth to overlap the upper jaw and teeth. The MotionClass III Appliance 3D  is a minimally invasive  intended to treat  malocclusions without extractions or painful orthognathic surgery.

Temporary Anchorage Devices

Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADS) are small, screw-like dental implants made of a titanium alloy. As the name implies, they're temporary — they usually remain in place during some months of treatment, and then they are removed. TADs provide the resistance necessary to allow the brace to pressure the teeth into moving into alignment.

Microimplant

A Micro-implant is a device that is temporarily fixed to bone for the purpose of enhancing orthodontic anchorage either by supporting the teeth of the reactive unit or by obviating the need for the reactive unit altogether, and which is subsequently removed after use.
